Derbyshire O 45's v Worcestershire O 45's
Derbyshire cruised to an easy 11-1 win over a poor Worcs side. After the over 55's had been cancelled we were left with 4 courts to race away and home within an hour and a half. As captian I couldn't pick a player of the match as we were always on court.
Report by Janet Fletcher.
Derbyshire O 55's v Cheshire O 55's
Derbyshire 55's travelled to Chester with several members of last years team missing through unavailability. However it was pleasing to welcome back Roger Bradley for his first county match in 18 months following health problems and he and partner Phil Johnson emerged as stars of the show as they secured their mens doubles to record Derbyshire only point of the day.
Several other matches went into the third rubber but unfortunately Derbyshire could not take any of them.
Thanks to Howard and Marion Watts (from derbyshire O50's for helping us out and playing in this match.
Team- R Dumelow J Fletcher

|EUROPEAN SUCCESS FOR OVER 50'S CAPTAIN
Darrell Roebuck recently returned from the European Senior Badminton Championships in Ireland with a gold medal in the Mens O50's doubles.
He partnered Kim Youg (Essex) and were successful in defeating G Arnevik and C Forsgen 21 -14 21-12 in the first round.
They then went on to defeat the Swiss pairings of P Dood and R SChalaper 21 -10 21-9 before coming up against English
team mates in the semis. This resulted in them dismissing Paul Cooper and Eric Plane 21 - 15 21 - 12 to set up a final with the No 1 seeds from Denmark. The final against Jespar Helledie and Pier Nygaard lasted 45 minutes before Darrell and Kim were victorious. After winning the opening game 21-11 Darrell and Kim went on to take the gold medal losing the next game 11 -21 and then taking the final decider 22-20. A very tense affair.
Darrell and Kim have formed a successful partnership in the last couple of years and since they moved up to the O 50's age group last season they have also claimed bothe the English National and All England titles so this latest victory caps a great year for them both.
|The Yehlex National Championships was held this weekend at Hatfield and saw a number of Derbyshire’s players competing.
Darrell Roebuck successfully defended his +50 National Men’s doubles title with partner Kim Yong. Another fantastic set of performances – well done!!
